Ten Bears assisted the client and their prime consultant, Apex Engineering, Inc., with evaluation of subsurface materials for stormwater recharge associated with a proposed redevelopment. Ten Bears services included subsurface investigation and stormwater infiltration testing in accordance with Delaware Sediment and Stormwater Best Management Practices Standards and Specifications, the Delaware Recharge Design Manual. T

Ten Bears’ initial soil investigation focused on a preliminary assessment of subsurface characteristics related to the feasibility of stormwater infiltration, including soil texture indicating permeability, depth to water table, and visible redoximorphic features indicative of the Seasonal High Water Level (SHWL). Meeting the above requirements involves placement of the subsurface stormwater facility in permeable soils at an elevation two feet or more above the SHWL. Follow-up infiltration testing confirmed the potential for recharge at a feasible depth within a portion of the open area available for stormwater facilities.

Ten Bears prepared a Stormwater Recharge Evaluation Report and assisted the client and Apex with New Castle County Department of Land Use approval of these documents through the established process. This included initial report submission, review, and approval by Department of Land Use reviewers. Total Ten Bears cost~ $8,000.
