Estate of William C Ward

Location Wilmington, DE
Project Owner City of Wilmington/Riverfront Development Corporation

Ten Bears is currently performing a Brownfields Investigation (BFI) on behalf of the City of Wilmington and the Riverfront Development Corporation. The City plans to redevelop the property for a parking lot in support of nearby recreational facilities. Site was formerly used to landfill waste from the municipal incinerator on the adjoining parcel. Based on known historical use and associated environmental impacts, Ten Bears proceeded with entering the Site into the Brownfields program, concurrent with a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment. The BFI included the collection of soil samples via Geoprobe in coordination with Northeast Probe and via excavated test pit in coordination with Cropper, Co. Northeast Probe installed groundwater monitoring wells from which Ten Bears collected groundwater samples. Soil and groundwater samples were submitted to Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories Environmental Testing for analysis of TAL metals; TCL volatile organic compounds, semi-volatile organic compounds, and pesticides; PCBs; and PFAS compounds. Ten Bears coordinated a geophysical survey with MidAtlantic Geophysics LLC in an effort to locate any potential buried underground storage tanks, drums, or other buried debris. Ten Bears is currently compiling and analyzing laboratory results and will submit a BFI Report to DNREC summarizing the results of the BFI. The report will include Ten Bears’ recommendation for potential remedial actions (if warranted).
